BIOGRAPHY

Jo’s music-career officially started in 1999 when he went to the UK to tour with various bands as session guitarist. This is also where he had his first experience in a recording studio. His time in the UK ex-posed him to a level of musicianship that he would always use as a benchmark.

Jo is absolutely obsessed with everything related to guitars. He started playing at the age of 8 and can count the number of days since then that he has not had a guitar with him on one hand. He also built and/or customized many of his own instruments.
After his return from the UK, Jo worked on several projects and played in a number of bands, most notably The Fathers Of Invention, whom he fronted, played guitar and wrote music for between January 2004 and December 2005. He also started a recording studio, BlooRoom Studios, where he does recording for various other artists.

In October 2005, just before The Fathers was supposed to start touring full-time, it was decided that the band would split. They ful-filled their final touring commitments and officially split up in December 2005.

After the band’s decision to split, Jo immediately started working on what would become his first solo-album, Fear And Science, in BlooRoom Studios. The album was released in April 2006 during a nationwide live broadcast of a gig on (SA radio-station) RSG. After this, Jo appeared on the SABC2-programme "Pitstop", where he also won their "Tref & Trap" chart for new talent.

In June 2006 Jo started jamming with Zaan and Panna and it was soon decided that the three of them would work together on a full-time basis.
